'Doc' Retires

Kevin Doherty has announced that he is retiring from football with immediate effect.

Kevin, who has played for Shelbourne for two periods (July for four seasons and March 2009 to date) has found that the number of injuries he has suffered over the years have caught up with him and that it was taking longer and longer to recover from the various knocks he was receiving.

He was contemplating retirement at the end of last season but Manager Dermot Keely prevailed on him re-sign for this season - however Kevin, after a lot of thought, decided over last week-end to call it a day.

The Board of Management thank Kevin for his dedication during the time he was with the club and wish him well with whatever he decides to do in the future. You - and your family - will be welcome in Tolka, anytime.
