Shelbourne make the short trip down the east coast to play Bray Wanderers on Friday night, for their first game of the Airtricity League, Premier Division 2013 season. Kick-off at the Carlisle Grounds venue is 7.45pm.

With upwards of twelve changes to last season’s panel at Tolka Park, manager Alan Mathews has built a squad comprising of a mixture of youth and experience.

Speaking at this week’s Annual Fans’ Forum at Tolka Park, Matthews told those present that he predicted his side “ending the season with a higher league placing then last year – and if things went well, a top four position”. He declared himself “happy with the way pre-season has gone” – except obviously for the red cards received – “if we are to achieve our targets for this season, we will have to cut down on the number of suspensions and hope that we get through with the minimum of injuries”

Of the six pre-season games played, Shelbourne won three and drew three, scoring 10 goals and conceding three.(details below)

Going into the Bray Wanderers game, Shelbourne have Pat Flynn suspended and a late decision will be made on Glenn Cronin’s fitness following an ankle injury which saw him take no part in the pre-season games.
