Shelbourne v Drogheda United

SSE Airtricity League – First Division Play-Off
Tolka Park – October 8th – KO 7.45 pm

Monday night sees Shelbourne play host to Drogheda United in the second leg of the first match of this First Division Play-Off Series. Kick-off is scheduled for 7.45pm.

Shelbourne carry over the slimmest of leads from the first leg at United Park on Friday last – James English scoring with a header to the roof of Paul Skinner’s net following a pinpoint corner kick delivery from set-piece specialist Lorcan Fitzgerald for the only score in the game.

However, there was plenty of evidence at Drogheda on Friday, indicating that this tie is by no means over – the home side being denied what they would claim to be a stonewall penalty and the Reds having a gilt edges opportunity towards the end of the game, when in a one to one with the keeper inside the area, the player snapped at his shot and put it wide of the post.

If Monday’s game is as close and competitive as Friday’s, Tolka Park will be the place to be for excitement, commitment and discussion points.

Shelbourne go into the game without the services of still injured Dave Mulcahy and Aidan Collins (who was stretchered off shortly after half-time on Friday) and with scorer of that all-important goal, James English, having to leave the field in some distress, a couple of minutes before the final whistle, rated as doubtful for this game. Greg Moorhouse is once again available having served a suspension on Friday for five yellow cards

Officials appointed for this game are:
