SSE AIRTICITY LEAGUE - FIRST DIVISION
Wexford FC v Shelbourne FC
May 17 2019
Shels boss Ian Morris says he was encouraged by his teams “steely determination” to grab all three points last Friday against Athlone Town.
Shelbourne travel to Wexford FC tomorrow looking to keep chasing down the leaders in the SSE Airtricity League First Division.
“Training has been really good this week with players working really hard and the players have obviously been positive after the result on Friday,” Morris told shelbournefc.ie
“The lads showed excellent character to rectify the situation after going down in the first half and the subs made a great impact when they came on, he added.
Morris was thrilled to see the return of Shane Farrell who he said has “worked extremely hard” to be back in the reckoning.
“Shane sees a pass and he can execute it as well, as you seen with the ball into Ryan Brennan who set up Killer (Ciaran Kilduff). He has that quality of vision,” he said.
Morris believes Friday’s opponents are a “tough team” and is expecting another tight battle.
“They’re pushing teams to the wire and scoring in most games. They’re a better team than their league position shows,” he said.
The Reds Head Coach believes teams around them taking points off each other has given them “‘more motivation” to keep winning but maintains the team “need to focus on their own game.”
