Shels boss Ian Morris believes his side “have grown a lot since” the last trip to Galway in the first game of the season.

League leaders Shelbourne travel to Eamonn Deacy Park on Friday night having come back from two goals down to win 3-2 last time out in Galway.

“It’s a massive game going into the final round of games, you see what happened down there last time but we’ll be going in full of confidence,” he said.

Shels became the first team to win at Markets Field this season last week when they beat Limerick 1-0 with a Ciaran Kilduff goal.

“It gives the players that extra belief and reaffirms the hard work with the detail in training. We passed the ball well and really dug in when we needed to,” Morris told shelbournefc.ie.

Shels top scorer Ciaran Kilduff has been nominated for SSE Airtricity League Player of the Month for June and Morris said he the Reds’ “talisman.”

“He’s huge for us, he’s our top scorer and it’s right that he gets the recognition he deserves and also for the players who can get confidence because they’re the ones helping him,” he said.

On Friday’s opponents, Morris said Galway “can beat anyone on their day.”

“It’s difficult to judge them on results alone because sometimes you might not get the run of the green. We’ll have prepared properly with video and work on the training pitch,” he added.

After some great crowds home and away recently and a sizeable away crowd in Galway last time, Morris said he is looking for fans to “bring the noise once more.”

“You saw the scenes down here last time and the excitement that was created, we’ll hope to recreate that,” he said.

Sean Quinn is missing as he is on international duty at the World University Games in Naples, Italy. Derek Prendergast is back fit after missing last week with a slight issue.
